Don Redshaw (1930 - 2006)![]() He did a tremendous amount of work to raise money and interest in the EYE camp in India and was in demand to show his slides and photos to raise more money for this organisation. He was a farmer who sold a certain amount of his land for development and who then became a contractor combining, baling and hedge cutting until he felt the time had come to retire. When we had the first Sponsored Bike Ride he organised the short wave radio link which worked very well until mobile phones came in! In the later years illness caught up with him and he was always glad to see old friends. In Peter Maw’s year as president he was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of his work for Rotary, very much deserved, but he was in hospital the day before the presentation. He was a good friend to us all, a person who had a bit of fun out of life and also put a lot into life. We, the members of the Rotary Club of Driffield, send out sympathy to Sheila and the family on their sad loss. Roger Parkin |
